Frostastic

I was going through my flash drive and found an untitled folder packed with photos. A veritable trove.

These are dated back to 2014. It was a pretty tough year and I think things were a little crazy. I will be dropping these out on my blog over the next few weeks. Kind of a nice mix up. Especially since a number of these I was so sure I'd blogged!

Here's OPI How to Jamaica Million

Three coats, no top coat.

This is from the 1996 Carribean collection, as my research shows, and a frostier thing you won't see here!

I don't know where I got it, but I no longer seem to own it. Apparently it is a super HTF black label polish that is super expensive on eBay right now.

Don't be fooled: it must have been something that didn't impress me with its formula if I didn't keep it. I may have hidden troves of photos, but I don't have hidden bottles of polish, that's for sure.

If you love a pearl finish, this one certainly is very much the creature. It will give up each and every brushstroke with zero apologies, however.

Would I buy it again? Probably not. I kind of wish I'd kept it around for a stamping polish, though. I won't lie, I think it's very pretty and would have warranted trying to do sponging on the last layer to smooth it all out.

At this point it's gone, and I am not actively hunting it out!

Diamond Life

Joss Flash Diamond never gives it up.

It's a holo, but in a silvery platine base.

Here it is in the sun, three coats and luxe as heck!

Somewhat transparent, but not impossible. You can see some staining through my pinkie.

The base is a pearly metallic shimmer that gathers light on its own so in the shade you aren't stuck with a gray polish.

Meanwhile....holo monster that is so beautiful. Love it!

Joss, an Australian brand that was on the indie sites for a while, seems to have withered from those sellers and remnants of them are left. A real shame, as this is a brand who has knocked the formula out of the park!

A few are around on indie sellers, etc. Worthy acquisition, for sure!

Golden Rose Reblog

I wanted to reblog a pair of polishes that made me frustrated when I first worked with them here. Pretty poor formula was my experience.

Perhaps, though, this is a moot point, as GoldenRose's USA site is impossible to navigate to w/o a weird redirect, although their Facebook page is front and center.

Meanwhile...

GoldenRose 119

I've since let it evaporate a bit and thinned it with OPI thinner.
This process means I leave it uncapped anywhere from a few hours to a few days. It also requires nice weather. So, it definitely is a summer activity! Sometimes I thin just with thinner, other times I add a clear polish. This was a quick evaporation project.

OPI thinner is a low-ingredient-count thinner that has been a true stand-by for me.

This is two coats over black. Pure and simple: love it!  Taken under bright sunshine, as it favors only sun and doesn't play well under lamps.

Scattered holo over black = yummy!!!

Same concept, evaporated and thinned.

Three coats alone. Mercilessly requiring sun, and even then just playing the innocent "who me? holo? what?"

I can't tell if this is a silvery lavender or a whitish blue. Still, very nice!

Red, White, and Silver

Zoya Luna

Here's a very unique polish. A silver glitter in a white shimmer base.

Three coats. The white is a shimmer and it works very nicely with the silver.

Here it is over white:

Over white it is merely a silver over white and the play between the glitter and the white shimmer are gone.

My only complaint is that I couldn't get it to dry well. I find that with me, Zoya can be very hit or miss. I have no way of predicting it, either.

Here is Zoya Astra

dog hair! Ack!
This beauty is a red and silver combination in a rich ruby base.

This is a two coater, but it can do double duty as a topper, too.

Both of these are, apparently discontinued on the Zoya site. They are online, but I am not seeing a density of them. It is similar to a China Glaze Mrs. Claus from their 2010 collection, but a bit better, in my opinion.

I had no issues with this one, and definitely like the pari of colors in the jelly base.
