Solstice

Short terse winter so far. Though the winter has been abrupt, it's not been unfriendly.

Now the days will turn longer and the winter will resonate later in the day, rather than tucking itself away.

I did this mani about a month ago and wanted to post it, it's my rugged nail art attempt at capturing the mountains in late fall.

I used the Emily de Molly 07 round plate, but I did have some proportion issues. Minor by comparison to other things...

I love this one, but I wish the owl was smaller.

The gradient is an old batch (top to bottom):
Princessa Picking on Waikiki (what does that mean?)
Petite Banish
OPI Golden Eye

I used a Color Club royal purple and like the wolf and the deer and the trees.

Here's another:

The deer in this one kind of worked after I sponged a little more gold on the bottom.
I did get some residue due to my lack of skills at pulling off extra bits for isolated things. A work in progess.

Finally:

I like this one, too. More of a red purple like I used on the owl, but I can't recall the polish!

For me the gradient alone was a real win, I loved it.

Stamping, I need to work on these clustered images that need tape to pull off the extra items to isolate them.

Hope you have a wonderful Solstice!

It's Fair Season

Mellowing summer, visiting the county displays, checking out the fairway, eating a funnel cake.

Sweet afternoons at a fair.

I've got a wishlist with some super hard to find polishes, but I don't spend a lot of time looking, often they are super expensive and I don't really spend as much time trolling through eBay for the random find like I used to.

But...then...I found this little puppy...

Petites Banish

Found at my local Rite Aid, during their close-out on the Petites and other Sherer polishes. This is from their Color Fever line. It's a beautiful coral red with pink shimmer.

At three coats, I won't have to tell you it's sheer. I did grab it because it's probably as close as I'll ever get to OPI's Sweet Love on the Ferris Wheel from their 2001 Yokohama collection, a Japan exclusive.

It feels so delicate, and I love how it glows.

This is a gorgeous polish. Still available on places like eBay.

A dreamy shimmer packed with delicate pink pops of color.

Flakies, Flakies, and more Flakies

Sun was out, and I had time to grab some shots.

Essence Glisten Up!

This is such a little gem of a polish.

Really gorgeous.

Two coats over Sally Hansen Marble Creme. For a start it's not just a flakie, it's got a pretty iridescent glitter that works soft magic.

Sally Hansen Marble Creme is such a favorite of mine. It's a seafoam green that isn't just a mint green, it's like a grown up mint green.  J'adore.

Petites Dare

I had been trying out a purple, a shimmer that I've now since gotten ride of because of toluene, etc, blah blah...meanwhile, I wanted to wear Petites Dare to decide about it, again.

I'd blogged it here before over a light blue, but wanted to see what it looked like over a deeper shade. Plus it had been really a minor player once Sally Hansen Hidden Treasure came on the scene.

Fortunately the flakies pop out a bit better, which really helps.

I did want to show Hidden Treasure over Marble Creme, too.

Many people, I see, seem to think that Hidden Treasure is full of these intense greens and oranges, but pop it over a pastel and voila! you've got a beauty.

This is two coats.

This is Marble Creme after its been evaporated down to almost a solid block and I added thinner and some clear polish to bring it back. It still is a low-pigment polish (kid yourself not, Sally Hansen was a cheap piece of work on pigment on this polish), but it's not a complete bear to wrestle into drying and application.
