NYX Paradise

Remember when NYX nail polish was hitting it hard? They had a "girls" line and a "salon" line (with Deborah Lippmann type of bottles). Now they have packets and themes, and they don't get great reviews on their own site. Wow.

Times change.

I've had this polish rolling around in my stash for some time. I spilled some, lost the label in a drawer, and thought I'd blogged it, only to find that it was unloved in a bunch of teals.

Meanwhile, it's really a great topper!

I've put two coats over my current navy, Borghese Mezzanotte Blue, it's a creme that is dark as can be, but just short of black.

Here it brings out this golden yellow shimmer that normal swims in a pretty blue base.

I've put three coats alone and it's less stellar of a polish:

Though the color combination is very unique, it is sheer and you can see my nail beds, which are stained. Worse, for me, is that my nail beds are changing the color of the top half of the nail polish until you get to the whites of the nail.  I think that a fourth coat might have made only the tiniest of difference. A nude base - or some "lingerie" - would have prevented the color shift into this weird orange territory.

I have filed it under "topper" and think over a turquoise or bright blue, it could be a stand out.

Meanwhile, this will do nicely!

Thank you so much for reading my little nail polish journal!

  1. Very interesting one!! I agree over a turquoise or bright base it would be even better, but I actually like it as shown here over dark base and on its own. I mean hey I can't say I've seen anything quite like it before!
