Sally Hansen Opals - Pt 3

More of that interference action up for you!

This pair is actually a little less of a duochrome, but more of a straight interference.

In case this is the first time you've read about these Sally Hansen Opals here are the previous entries:

Part 1

Part 2

These are a little more straight up: over black one color seems to shine through, I did these under a daylight corrected lamp and really couldn't find much of the color buried in there.

These seem to be a study in opposites!

Red Opal 06

Red Opal is not red, it flashes emerald green!
It's beautiful and not milky with two coats.

You can see a bit of the blue in this shot. Beautiful. But not red! lol!

Pale Lilac Opal 08

Neither pale nor lilac, but a pretty rusty red.

Two fingers each with one and two coats respectively. As you can see, two coats does get a bit milky, but one is a nice top coat!

As you can see it is a warm red with a little rust and warm burgundy in the shimmer.
I imagine a glass of good red wine reflecting the flicker of a fireplace through the glass.

Nice!

Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!

  1. I love this series of posts so much! I have some of these opals and am always avoiding them because they seem a little boring, but you show that layering really makes them shine.

I really kind of like these!
You are right: Alone, they are sad things! LOL!

  3. I have 3 of the Opals, Red Opal, Earthern Opal and Royal Opal. I haven't tried any of them. I keep hoping I'll find more at the Dollar Tree.

  4. They seem to be unloading a new batch.
I've got more coming up, too.

Overall, they are nice over black, navy, or other vamps, but alone they are ripe for being passed over, and that is a shame!
