L'Oreal Sea Violette
Three coats, no top coat.
Can I get an AMEN???? I love this polish so hard. It's a magenta shimmer loaded with blue shimmer. The blue shimmer just glows. It's mesmerizing.
Here it is over navy blue
The base is a jelly so it's absolutely perfect as a layering polish leaving the blue shimmer to pulsate over your senses.
While I love it alone most of all, it's nice to see that it's got layering chops. Chops I tell you, chops.
Found at the Dollar Tree ages ago and grateful that we crossed each other's path.
Good luck finding it online, I haven't found it. I think it might show up in blog sales or eBay on occasion. You need to be assiduous in your search these days though to garner results.
Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!
I didn't even have to read the text - I took one look at your first picture and *knew exactly* what polish that was!
ReplyDeleteSea Violette was my absolute favorite in high school. I went through two bottles. And I wholly concur with "good luck finding it". I've been searching for years and so far, no luck :(. There are some modern ones that are close, but someday, I'll have the original again.
Thanks so much for posting the pictures and bringing back the memories!
Hi!
DeleteI it's a gorgeous polish, I consider myself lucky to find it!
I might goof around with finding a way to recreate it by layering, but it's a breed apart, that's for sure!!
Seriously awesome polish, wow!!
ReplyDeleteI know, right???
DeleteSea Violette was on the pink side... what was the name of the loreal purple with blue hue?
ReplyDeleteThis is L'Oreal Sea Violette alone and over navy.
DeleteI love this polish also, was my favorite 😍
DeleteCorrect. There were 2. The darker one I can't remember but it was more of a red jelly with blue. Some other brands tried to mimic the darker one like wet n wild, NYC, Revlon and Orly but they never really got it right.
DeleteSea lilac
DeleteThis reminds me of Sea Fleur, which I remember from the 80s from L'Oreal. The good news is that almost every brand of nail polish does some version of a magenta with an iridescent blue in it these days, although if memory serves me correctly, L'Oreal was the first to do it. I believe I've seen this in Sinful Colors, China Glaze, Sally Hansen, and Kleancolor...you just have to look through their colors to find them.
ReplyDeleteI know this is old but I've been looking for this polish forever. Are there any good dupes for it? I have some but the color is not the same others have the blue with larger particles. Not the right blur. I haven't had sea violette and sea le fleur?? Sp?? Since the 90s. Somehow a lot of my stuff went missing in a move. I think hubs threw away. He hated makeup. I wore those polishes all the time. When we moved in 2005 I couldn't find it. I really miss it. Thank you if you get this.
