Ross has been a source of Color Club 6 and 7 packs over the last year and that has been a lot of fun.
I find, for some reason, that when I buy a set, unless I am not feeling it (Essie Art of Spring) I want to keep the sets together, like a little family. Maybe I just need to wear them more often, too.
Here is Color Club's Flower Power collection:
From left to right:
Lazer Pink
Orange Revenge
Pink Lust
Limelight
Screamin' Fuschia
Power Play
0-60 Speedy Top coat
First off: I admit neons gave me some fear. In the winter these are a little unhealthy looking on my skin. But, this summer I've been outdoors a whole lot and spent much time getting a tan, even though I am religious about sun block, gloves, hats and early morning activities.
So, with a tan, neons work!
A little bit about the top coat: not so speedy. It took a long time to dry on the slow to dry polishes (Lazer Pink = drying HELL!!!)
I almost think it's actually slower than an older before-3-free Maybelline I've got, weird!!!
To the polishes!
All are three coats, so you can see that some cover well, some don't. I left them topcoat free to show the finish, too.
Lazer Pink
Pretty! Not too hot, just a nice medium pink.
However, after I'd swatched the set, I thought I'd wear this pink and found that it was absolutely impossible to dry. Several redos that included various basecoats, top coats, thin layers and drying drops left me so frustrated with this polish! It must be whatever they use to cut the pigment, the white base. Something! Boo! Fail!
Orange Revenge
This, alternatively, dried beautifully!
Plus, it was easy to use as well as that beautiful juicy reddish orange. Nice!
I can't fault this, with any topcoat it will become shiny. Yay! Win!
Pink Lust
HOT pink! This was also easy to use! Dried well, too.
Limelight
This almost reminds me of Diamond Cosmetics Froggy. A little more bright and neon, though, but still, as you can see, somewhat translucent, aka Visible Nail Line! I think a white or other super pale base would amp it up.
Easy application!
Screamin' Fuschia
My favorite!
Reminds me of those little weird neon red fish bait eggs my grandfather used to use when he'd take me and my sister out fishing.
It feels more red than fuschia, but it's still screamin', that's for sure!
Application/dry time made this a full on win!
Power Play
This is also another winner. Not as neon, but quite rich. Like a neon orchid. Another favorite of the group.
This also reminds me of Milani's Rad Purple. I might need to do a comp.
So the one I would avoid is Lazer Pink. Too frustrating! And the top coat. Too slow! Might make a regular top coat, but if you need to get going, don't rely on it.
A beautiful group. It's late summer, so there isn't much more time to wear these, and so I kind of wish I cracked these open back in June, but, there is always next year! Also, with Halloween around the bend, I am thinking of doing a month of "orange/coral" for the heck of it.
Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!
Shame Lazer Pink takes so long to dry. All the colours look really nice. I don't think I've ever seen a purple like Power Play before. Great collection.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment!
ReplyDeleteI think I've got a Sinful and the Rad Purple byMilani that are similar, I will compare them.
I love Power Play, and the Sinful color closest to it is probably Dream On, which is close too. I can't wait to see the comparison.
ReplyDeleteI've had good luck with Lazer Pink topped with Sally Hansen Insta-Dri (in the red bottle) - it seemed to dry fairly quickly. Might be worth a shot!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Loving your blog!
Hey, thank you!!!
ReplyDeleteI should mention I use the SH red bottle and Borghese dry spray that I transfered to a dropper bottle. They usually work, one or the other, this might have been my urge to recycle old SH and NYC uselessly translucent polishes as a base.
I had still tried a few others like Borghese Magnetico and a couple other base coats, I will, of course give Poor Lazer Pink another chance! :D
Original Wacky, I have pulled Rad Purple and Dream on out and will do a comparison.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reminding me!
I LOVE the Orange Revenge and the Power Play the best. :)
ReplyDeleteI separate most of my sets except the little ones. Funny aren't we? LOL.
