Nicole by OPI came out with their Gumdrops collection for summer of 2013 when textures were in the peak of being "hot".
Although I could top them with enough top coats to smooth them out, I kind of liked the glossy look. I will add that personal experience has shown that you need a thickening basecoat kind of thing to really smooth them out. I use Gelous and another I found at Ross when I do try, otherwise you are really stacking on coats.
Meanwhile, back to the Gumdrops....
All are three coats and not top coat. Also, will warn you that it's hard to see the texture in my photos, which is ok with me. If a polish can work with and without texture I'm happy.
In general the formula was very nice, easy to use and dried pretty fast. No smudges.
Nicole by OPI - I Lilac Gumdrops
Pretty lilac with lots of pale gold glitter mixed in. Almost one of those platine gold/silver things. In some light you'd swear the glitter is gold, in others it's absolutely silver. The effect is cool, aloof and not a teeny-bopper glitter polish,
Unable to fault it!
Nicole by OPI - That's What I Mint
Beautiful teal. I saw a lot of colors in this glitter: blues, greens and teal. Love it!
My camera really had trouble differentiating out the green and amber and blues that are mixed through this one.
I don't think of mint, but I don't know what kind of flavor teal would be other than mint. While I don't dislike this one, it's not a stand out for me.
Nicole by OPI Cinna-Man Of My Dreams
Predates the whole Marsala trend predicted by Pantone et al.
This one shows a good combination of pink and this warm spice wine color.
I also think this one would be great layered, as the base has translucency.
I varies in the light you have it in, from a lighter pink spice to a deeper cinnamon. Love it a lot.
Nicole by OPI Blue-Berry Sweet On You
Pretty bright blue that is pretty uniform in color.
Sometimes it will color shift, but I wasn't really able to catch anything enough for the camera.
Very good coverage. If you like periwinkle, you will love this one, a bunch!
Like it very much.
Nicole by OPI Candy is Dandy
Very beautiful strawberry pink shade loaded with iridescent glitters of a variety of shades. I really love this one.
I also have it parked right next to my DS Tourmaline in my glitter drawer. Dupes? I have to get that post together, but they look very, very, very close to being identical.
Really like this one a lot, too.
There you have it, the few I picked up. I think I missed out on the cherry red one and the licorice one.
They may come along, but right now I'm happy with what I've got.
Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!
