Trying for Syrup, Not Quite!

I was trying to do a syrup manicure, which can be seen here:

Syrup Manicure
(I don't have rights to the photos)

Here's what I got:

This is my leftover E.L.F. Dark Red poured into some clear. Ratio was 1/2 bottle of Dark Red to 1/3rd bottle of clear - a 14 oz bottle.

It looks pretty syrup-y to me, but maybe it's just a gradation!

I put 1 coat on the top third, then another coat at the top two-thirds, then the final coat all over. It's jelly through and through, but maybe I need to thin out the polish and figure out how they do another color down below.

Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!

  1. I've never heard of that type of manicure. I'm learning many polish things today. I like your manicure. Looks like syrup to me. I'll have to check the other one out.

  2. This is gorgeous - and to me, a rather successful syrup mani.

  3. ABOP!!! Thank you!!!
I really appreciate the feedback, I only had that one photo. I could get addicted to these, it's the one nail art that I seem to be able to do!
    Yay!
