Fun With Brown (and more "interference")

This is a Sally Hansen creme I found at a Dollar Tree. It was one of those forlorn ones hanging alone. It was all separated and a green bloom was at the bottom and a teal colored clear layer sitting at the top.
Unappetizing to say the least. I grabbed it and slowly started shaking and rolling it.

It's called Leather Creme and it's a pretty nice neutral milk chocolate brown.

Then I found a bottle of the Sally Hansen Salon old square bottle called Mist You. A light apricot that is so invisibly sheer, I knew there was no reason to really buy it. Of course I saw a bit of a flash, ho hum.

Put them together:

Hello Gorgeous!

Wow! What a nice surprise that turned out to be! More of that "interference" action. It's a lovely purple shimmer with blue and pink particles!

Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!

  2. Hey thanks!!!!

I am so surprised by this one! Mist You is also nice and thin, so it really lets the base come through.

I think someone on MUA Nail Board used it in a franken and the purple really popped. Nice!

  4. I have a bunch of the old Sally Hansen cremes, both from their original debut and from DT finds - but I've NEVER thought to try layering over them! Cool!

  5. Thanks so much for your comments!!

Yes, tty layering. Some sheers are useless except s bases for frankens.

I think someone on MUA took Mist You and added a dark color to it and the purple popped out. I can't recall who, but it was a nice franken!

  6. I just love all your layering discoveries. I've been stuck on your blog for like a week. I keep coming back to read more and now I'm reading some of them for a second time. lol

It all started... I just laughed out loud again because that beginning there sounds so dramatic. But it did all start when somehow I wound up on one of your posts about layering the SH Opals. My jaw dropped. I thought those suckers were completely worthless! My Dollar Tree had like a billion or two of them, and I was so excited thinking they were something like the Nail Prisms, but instead they're just really sheer and 10 layers isn't enough for opacity. So disappointing, until I saw your layering!

I'm looking forward to some layering experiments of my own now. I do like layering, but so far I've mostly stuck to glitters or the ones that say they are top coats and didn't even consider layering the Opals.

Right now I have Christmas Tree fingers. I'm wearing WnW Morbid with ChG Golden Enchantment layered on top. I wanted to see if it would work for Christmas day, and yes, it will.

  7. Hello Donna!!! You are so awesome to read through my crazy blogging! I have to say that I really was so sad when I went nuts on all those opals, too. Then I tried them on black, I think I saw someone somewhere do it. I've got more coming up!

There are some gems in those Opals. I think some could also be frankens: add some dark purples, navy or black and the shimmer might pop. I recently found a second wave of these and want to experiment with them!

I LOVE Morbid, and your combo is awesome!! Do you have a blog, I'd love to follow it!

    :D
I should post a: Post your blog post. I am such a backwards blogger wrt technology! My contact page is an epic fail and I still can't figure it out!!

    Ok, enough already!!!

So glad you enjoyed the opals!
