Ah, green. You vixen! You guile filled beauty! Strangely magical and earthy, yet ethereal and nebulous.
To wit: trying to photograph a humble Sinful nail polish was about as hard as could be. I gave up on my borrowed camera, a really nice Olympus with 10 megapixels and ended up with my iPhone.

Sinful "Rise and Shine"
This photo really did capture the richness of this color, however it was always coming out like a mint green on the other camera, despite my efforts to white balance.
Three coats were necessary. It was a strange combination of runny and goopy. It actually dripped from the stem of the brush, so I had to really make sure polish was wiped off well before trying to apply.
It also dried very "satin" like. The shimmer came out when I applied a top coat.
I can't say I hate it, but I can't say I love it. The color photographs horribly on my hands, but in real life, it's not too terribly horrid.
I do wonder if it is has a copy in the Sally Hansen Mint Sprint or China Glaze Four Leaf Clover. If those are out there, I'd go for the Sally Hansen Insta Dry Mint Sprint instead. Even China Glaze, though it's a bit more.
And yet....
When I pulled out a bottle of Sinful "Nail Junkie" (a backup-worthy polish!) and applied a couple of two or three coats, it suddenly all made sense! Vixen GREEN!
Aside from making my skin look like I am in a science project in the cadaver lab here at school, the glitter is a beautiful, blue and iris medium and small glitter in a light teal base. This photo is so horrible. I really have to confess: it shouldn't be published.
The day is cloudy, the light is from the north and the camera is an iPhone. Three strikes and you're OUT!
I will work on a light box, what the heck, even a crummy one will look better than this!!
Some positives: the color. Such a combo!!! "Rise and Shine" definitely adds depth to the "Nail Junkie".
Also, my cuticles are not the dry, horrible mystery they used to be. So that's progress.
In conclusion I would say Sinful polishes are nice! I love "Nail Junkie" but not wholely loving the application and finish on "Rise and Shine"
I am writing this on March 8th, so there is a whole lot more green to go. Better polishes, too.
One sad thing, though, I am wondering if my skin can hold up to the blue greens, which I love, and perhaps I look better with the yellower greens. Hmmm...more swatching to find out!
Just found your blog. Pretty nice manicures.
