Franken Time Again - Pale Bleu

I have to admit that I need to swatch more Misa's. It may be that this is my favorite brand of them all: I love the formula and the bottles as well as their colors.

As you know I am kind of cuckoo for periwinkle, however this is a color I can absolutely never pull off as an eye shadow, it makes my skin look yellow and the color ends up gray, especially in the summer time. It is odd, to me, because I can wear fuschia and magenta, eve dark purples and burgundies. I probably need to drive up to my Nordstrom and have a beauty counter specialist give me the real deal on my skin tone.

But. I adore wearing blue nail polish. I know I have 2 1/2 Helmer drawers dedicated to the color! I am so obsessed with organizing the reds, browns and neutrals that I've made a major omission in blue! Plus I've got 2 1/2 Helmer drawers of purple! It's ridonkulous! I will be pulling them out.

This franken is from Misa's Throw Me Something Purple Please, which is from their Mardi Gras collection in summer, or is it spring?, 2010. It wasn't warmly received, some cremes of colors that are already out there, but this blurple or really a deep royal periwinkle blue, caught my eye. So much so that I grabbed some back ups. I don't know why, but I felt that it was franken material.

Here is what I call simply Pale Bleu:

Very hard to photograph!!!

First off it's a little deeper and a lot more glowing. I had to tweak it in Photoshop Elements to drop the color down, because it blows out.

Here's the kicker: it changes color!
In the sunset as I was driving home from the barn, the reddish glow of sunset turned it into a pinkish lilac. Under fluorescent light it turns even more blue.

It's like Alexandrite in a bottle. Alexandrite has that same color changing ability. Very cool for a nail polish!

Right now it's a bright pale blue violet, and it pops off my skin.

Crazy awesome!!! It's better than the first franken I did of a pale milky blue. I should try for more photos, however as I write this I am dealing with a massive chip, which will render my nails short once again.

Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!

  1. That's a really pretty franken. It looks irridescent. I have an Alexandrite ring which I love. Nice for a polish to be like that. I hope you have pictures of every drawer of your Helmer. I'd love to see it.

  2. Thank you so much!
I love Alexandrite, too, it's such a cool blue.

I've got a couple of red drawers up, I need to get a third helmer, and I'm purging a few, too.
