Winter, though, wagged her finger at us. So it's still winter shades for now.</p><p>Found an old Jesse's Girl at the Dollar Tree. A delightful formula. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52005514418_3432f1d872_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="662" data-original-width="800" height="331" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52005514418_3432f1d872_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>The shimmer is soft, but has some dazzle to it. Why they call it satin I believe is because it's semi-matte. I guess like wax.</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52005709379_9d1f30ae6a_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="637" height="400" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/52005709379_9d1f30ae6a_b.jpg" width="319" /></a></div><br /><p>Three coats and no worries on cleanup. Tight little formula.</p><p><br /></p><p>I haven't been drugstore browsing in ages (Nail Polish Love In The Time Of Covid), so I don't know if Jesse's Girl still has its modest spot in the Walgreens. It was always separate from the nail polish aisle, but it's literally been about 2-3 years since I've been into any drugstore. I did peep at the polish in Walmartland and see that they've rearranged the whole nail sitch, but didn't really do more than breeze through.</p><p><br /></p><p>There is an old Jesse's Girl web site, but it's old and not secure, so probably not worth it.</p><p><br /></p><p>Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!</p>Johanna (Paillette)http://www.blogger.com/profile/01947280836540100262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-581516954062510026.post-30056352183017860832022-04-08T15:28:00.003-07:002022-04-08T15:28:37.619-07:00Pink for Spring<p> Here is Pahlish Suzie, Do You Copy? FtLoP box is a trio of polishes curated as a monthly sale on the Polished for Days site. I will be posting a lot of backlogged images. Right now my nails are super short and kind of weak, not that this image couldn't have been taken yesterday! I can't figure out if DRK is still making plates, they were out, they have polish that shows up on the limited time sales like Polish Pickup and Hella Handmade Customs, but I am not sure what the status is on plates. It's a big plate that has a bird cage in the middle, not the one with the Christian imagery. May be on the reselling facebook places or ebay etc.</p><p><br /></p><p>Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal. </p>Johanna (Paillette)http://www.blogger.com/profile/01947280836540100262noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-581516954062510026.post-55455058457504133732021-10-02T13:48:00.003-07:002021-10-02T13:48:51.486-07:00And Then The Grumble Was Gone<p>I have been unable to post for a long while except intermittently as my last darling pug, Lily, has been sick with complications of liver failure associated with her cancer.</p><p>So it's been a hard few months and it's been challenging to post with any enthusiasm.</p><p>Godspeed Lily. In retrospect those were some crazy great times in nail polish with pigments that only now are approaching that kind of greatness.</p><p>This one is Star Opal 03 Fire Opal. Let's play with the light, shall we?</p><p><br /></p><p></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51342708150_b4fe4ef7bb_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="799" data-original-width="800" height="400" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51342708150_b4fe4ef7bb_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /> Two coats over black, a delightful deep redwood shade that seems fitting with the current trend in lip colors.<p></p><p><br /></p><p>But it just keeps getting better:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51341916233_74bf6cd5c1_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="759" data-original-width="800" height="379" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51341916233_74bf6cd5c1_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>It shifts to this golden yellow that is so pretty.</p><p><br /></p><p>Then:</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51340974802_910a96f941_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="565" data-original-width="800" height="283" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51340974802_910a96f941_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>Here is this deep mushroom shade with the golden shimmer peeking out.</p><p><br /></p><p>Altogether a very unique shade in my collection. I am sure there are pigments in the indie realm, but I don't know if a pure shimmer one exists. </p><p><br /></p><p>You may be able to find this on eBay or a blog sale.</p><p><br /></p><p>Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!</p><p><br /></p>Johanna (Paillette)http://www.blogger.com/profile/01947280836540100262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-581516954062510026.post-8799922413191860122021-07-07T23:02:00.001-07:002021-07-07T23:02:12.910-07:00Hot Summer<p>Oh yes, talking about the weather. And yet it's not that pale kind of shade, but a rich fresh pop of green/blue.</p><p>Zoya's description (It's still available on their site) says there is gold and silver shimmer, well the gold certainly yeets the blue out of the turquoise.</p><p><br /></p><p>Here's my swatch:</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51267000893_c749c73694_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="610" height="400" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51267000893_c749c73694_b.jpg" width="305" /></a></div><br /><p>Three coats, no top coat.</p><p><br /></p><p>Simple, easy and perfect for these hot days of summer. </p><p><br /></p><p>Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!</p>Johanna (Paillette)http://www.blogger.com/profile/01947280836540100262noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-581516954062510026.post-9898721853616535192021-06-13T17:12:00.001-07:002021-06-13T17:12:11.859-07:00Sally Hansen Star Opal 02 (reboot)<p>I am going through my older polishes with a more stern eye, so I've got a project of redoing the Sally Hansen Opals with an eye on thinning out the collection.</p><p>I purged 01, as it was too thick to layer and to unimpressive and difficult to use on its own. </p><p>Here is Star Opal 02:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51246080114_07d6179d48_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="716" data-original-width="800" height="358" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51246080114_07d6179d48_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>One coat over navy, the green really popped, but it's more of a chartreuse than a bright Christmas green.</p><p>Here is the more common shift:</p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51246375990_0d6446a844_b.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="800" data-original-width="614" height="400" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51246375990_0d6446a844_b.jpg" width="307" /></a></div><br /><p>A pretty eggplant shimmer with a silvery highlight.</p><p><br /></p><p>I tried a second coat, but it got milky and virtually useless.</p><p>I am keeping one bottle but purging any backups of this one. Lately they have been larger, but still, in my opinion, thoughtful. </p><p><br /></p><p>Here is a glitter that is from the Midnight Masquerade collection from winter 2015. </p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51201499404_aec5576745_b.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="670" data-original-width="800" height="335" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51201499404_aec5576745_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>This is a bronze gold glitter in a sheer pumpkin orange jelly. I could not really emulate the bottle color, despite three coats. This has no topcoat and lies pretty flat. I really like this shade, though I really would have liked the copper shade in lieu of the bronze one. I have mixed feelings.</p><p>I guess my feelings are moot, as the polish appears to be discontinued.</p><p>Here it is over an apricot/orange creme (that I forgot to write down the name!), one coat:</p><p><br /></p><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51200927713_c406f8a4a2_b.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="595" data-original-width="800" height="298" src="https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/51200927713_c406f8a4a2_b.jpg" width="400" /></a></div><br /><p>I think the implication is that the base color sells the copper more than the glitter.</p><p><br /></p><p>This one can be found online at the nail supplies that carry Morgan Taylor as well as eBay. </p><p><br /></p><p>Thanks for reading my little nail polish journal!</p>Johanna (Paillette)http://www.blogger.com/profile/01947280836540100262noreply@blogger.com0
